Multi Window (Multitasking) Mode on Samsung Galaxy S4

Page 1. Multi Window

Multi WindowMulti Window lets you easily complete multiple tasks on one screen. For example, you can take notes while watching a video, or search the web and check your email messages simultaneously. The most commonly used applications are available in the Multi Window tray.
Use Multi Window

  • To access the feature, touch and holdBack android_Back[1].png . If you have turned Multi Window off, enable Multi Window by opening the Quick Panel by swiping two fingers from the top of the screen to the bottom, and touchMulti window.

  • To start Multi Window, touch icon_Multiwindow[1].png at the left of the screen to open the Multi Window tray.

    Note: You can move the location of the Multi Window tab by touching and holding the tab, moving it to another location on the screen, and releasing it.
  • Touch and drag an application from the tray to open it in a Multi Window screen. A blue overlay will indicate where the window will appear.

Dual ViewWith the Multi Window tray open, touch and drag an application from the tray to open it in Multi Window mode.

To resize the window, touch  on the split bar in the middle of the screen, and drag it up or down.

Window OptionsTouch  to reveal options available for the selected window.
  • Touch  to enable a cascading view of open applications in one window.
  • Touch [img=30,30]http://www.samsung.com/us/system/support/content/2013/04/25/h10096/icon_Multiwindow_Switch[0].png[/img] to swap the position of the windows.
  • Touch  to open the Multi Window Help menu.
  • Touch icon_Multiwindow_Fullscreen[1].png to switch the selected window to full screen.
  • Touch icon_Multiwindow_Close[1].png to close the selected window.
Edit the Multi Window ApplicationsWith the Multi Window tray open, touch More> Edit  . Only applications in the Multi Window tray can be viewed in Multi Window mode.

In Edit mode you can:
  • Drag icons in and out of the tray to add or remove them.
  • Drag icons to change the order they appear in the tray.
Touch Done  to close and save changes.
